ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Albert-George Schram, conductor. Equally adept at conducting classical and pops programs, Albert-George Schram has led a wide variety of repertoire for many orchestras in the U.S. and abroad. Schram is currently resident conductor of the Nashville Symphony and resident staff conductor of the Columbus (Ohio) and Charlotte symphonies. He has conducted classical, pops, holiday and educational concerts for all three orchestras. He has also served as music director of the Lubbock (Texas) Symphony and the Lynn (Fla.) Philharmonic and has held titled positions with the Louisville and Florida philharmonic orchestras.
Educated at The Hague Conservatory in his native Netherlands, Schram has also studied at the University of Calgary and the University of Washington. His teachers have included Rafael Kubelik, Franco Ferrara, Abraham Kaplan and Neeme Jarvi.
On the classical side, Schram has worked with many distinguished artists, including pianists Lang Lang and Olga Kern and violinist Elmar Oliveira, among others. His vast performance repertoire has included the Requiems of Verdi and Berlioz, most of the standard symphonies (by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Mahler et al), the basic concerto repertoire, and music by such acclaimed contemporary composers as John Corigliano and Jennifer Higdon. As a pops conductor, Schram has worked with James Taylor, Art Garfunkel, Chris Botti, LeAnn Rimes, Boyz II Men, Kenny G, Olivia Newton-John, Chicago, Aretha Franklin and many others. He also has put together a variety of theme programs, including a Big Band show, a Ray Charles tribute, “Home for the Holidays” (a Christmas program) and a romantic evening called “That’s Amore.”
Windborne Music. Windborne Productions, Inc. has been in existence since 1990 beginning work in both television and movies. Music is a large part of what our media division does, the founder of Windborne, Brent Havens, has been writing music for television, theatrical movies, music libraries, and industrial productions since 1980. Our first live production of classic rock music with orchestra was in late 1995 — The Music of Led Zeppelin. After the initial response from that show we realized that this was something that had the potential to spread throughout the country. That is exactly what happened and 12 different shows later, Windborne personnel have traveled the world touring The Music of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, The Doors, Queen, Michael Jackson, The Who, U2, Whitney Houston, The Rolling Stones, and Journey with orchestras great and small. We're looking to the future to keep Windborne on the cutting edge of live and recorded music production.
Windborne's hottest Classic Rock Symphony show is The Music of Queen. The show has quickly garnered critical and fan acclaim. Who isn't familiar with the classic tunes of Queen? It's difficult to go out these days and not hear something from their catalog on the radio, at the ballpark, on TV or at the grocery store. Knowing that, we wanted to stay as true to what Queen intended for our own production. Once again, the band stays as close as possible to the original recordings and the orchestra is "wrapped" around that original sound. Lots of vocals, lots of harmonic structure, and a perfect group to be accompanied by an orchestra. High energy, fun music, and the familiarity of the songs make the show a fun one both to play and to see. Broadway star Justin Matthew Sargent handles the complex and difficult task of representing Freddie Mercury's vocals. Sargent handles the assignment comfortably and sounds amazing leading the band and orchestra through the selected songlist. If you're an average fan or someone who knows literally every song ever recorded by Queen, there's something for you in this show. We dig deep to bring out some of the best (and sometimes forgotten) tunes that Queen and Freddie recorded over the year.
Music from the albums Classic Queen, A Night at the Opera, Sheer Heart Attack, Jazz, News of the World, A Kind of Magic, The Works and many more are all featured in this show. As with all of Windborne's shows, the band stays as close to the original as possible while the orchestra soars through the tunes and adds that extra "something" that make Windborne's shows special.
